Forged by Fire is a collection of five stories about ethnic groups that have faced or are facing injustice, persecution and/or marginalization in the US. These stories, however, are sprinkled with hope as evidenced by the reaction and action of United Methodist Church clergy and members on behalf of those groups. The stories focus on: • Japanese American’s internment during World War II • Cherokee’s forced removal and the Trail of Tears • African-American’s passage to freedom via the Underground Railroad • Hispanic/Latino struggles on the US/Mexican border • Pacific Islander’s immigration to the US In listening to the stories, viewers will be inspired and educated to bring about change wherever and however injustice and persecution exists. Includes leader’s guide. General Board of Church and Society. EcuFilm reviewer’s note: Each session can be used on its own or combined with other sessions as time permits. The leader’s guide provides questions for discussion and reflection.
